Volleyball is developing into a strong, competitive sport at
Crown Athletics, and we hope you will consider joining the
Knights for a third great season in 2008!
ELIGIBILITY: The Crown Athletics volleyball program is
open to home school girls age 12-18. Students must be 12 years
old by September 1 and going into grades 7–12 when school begins
in August. There are middle school and high school teams.
The Middle School teams are made up of girls in 6th-8th grades.
There is both a 6th-7th grade team and an 8th grade team. Girls
going into 7th grade have the ability to play up and be placed
on the 8th grade team if their skills and performance meet those
standards at tryouts and coaches determine this to be a good
fit. Girls must not have reached 15 years of age prior to
September 1 of the current school year to be considered
eligible.
The High School teams are made up of girls in 9th-12th grades.
There is both a JV team and Varsity team. The JV team is for
9th-10th graders. The varsity team is for girls in grades 11-12.
Girls going into 10th grade have the ability to play up and be
placed on a Varsity team if their skills and performance meet
Varsity level standards at tryouts and coaches determine this to
be a good fit. Girls must not have reached 19 years of age prior
to September 1 of the current school year to be considered
eligible.
LOCATION: Home games and practices are held at
The King’s Academy, 471 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA
30188. We may have some alternate practice locations as well.
CLINICS: Homeschool players old and new are welcome to
come out for Crown Athletics Spring Volleyball Clinics. The
clinics will help players warm up, prepare for tryouts,
strengthen skills, and have fun! Clinics are not mandatory for
tryouts with the Knights, but strongly encouraged.
HIGH SCHOOL: Girls going into 9th-12th grade will have
their clinic the week of April 28-May 2, 2008 at
The King’s Academy. For further details, email
crownvolleyball@yahoo.com.
MIDDLE SCHOOL: Girls going into 6th-8th grade will have
their clinic at
The King’s Academy with Coach Danielle Dodd. Middle School
clinics will be Mon-Tues, April 28 & 29, and Thurs-Fri, May 1 &
2, 2008 from 4:30-6:30pm at
The King’s Academy, 471 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA
30188. Clinic fee for April session is $50.00. The fee covers
court time and training.

spandex under soffies), kneepads, socks and tennis shoes to
clinics. Bring a water bottle. Fees and a release form will need
to be submitted the first day of clinic. Please RSVP if possible
to
Crownvolleyball@yahoo.com so that we might get a general
headcount.
OPEN PLAY DATES: A few Open Play Dates have been
scheduled for middle and high school girls who are interested in
learning more about volleyball, but are not prepared to commit
to a clinic. You’ll have a chance to meet some other players,
learn about the game, and decide if this sport is right for you.
There is fee of $3.00 per play date. Dates are Monday, Tuesday
and Thursday, April 21-24 from 4:30-6:30pm at
The King’s Academy. Please join us!
INFO MEETINGS: Information meetings are scheduled for
Monday, April 28 at
The King’s Academy, 471 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA
30188. We will meet in one of the classrooms upstairs in the
main gym building. The middle school meeting will take place at
6pm and the high school meeting at 8pm. Program packets with
schedules, fees, registration forms, etc. will be handed out and
parents can ask questions, meet coaches and committee members,
etc.
TRYOUTS: A panel of coaches will assist during tryouts.
Selections will be determined based on needed positions for the
team and the level of player potential and experience. Our bench
will be limited to 9-10 players per team depending on need.
Tryout dates are Mon-Tues, May 5-6 at
The King’s Academy. Players must attend the
age/grade-appropriate tryout times for their team. PLEASE BE ON
TIME! MS 4:15-6:15, HS 6:30-8:30. Team member selections will be
posted on the Crown Athletics website at
www.crownknights.org
the following day.
COACHES: We welcome back Coach Danielle Dodd, and we have
plans to announce additional coaching staff very soon.
FEES: The Knights Volleyball program fees will be
announced at the Information Meetings on April 28. Past year’s
fees have been around $300, and we expect this year’s program to
remain in that ballpark. The fee covers administrative overhead,
secondary insurance, equipment/supplies, gym rental, referee
fees, awards, honorariums, game uniforms and more. Camp and
tournament fees are priced separately.
FUNDRAISING/SPONSORSHIPS: There will be fundraising
opportunities available to offset camp, tournament and other
costs. Players are also encouraged to obtain business/corporate
sponsorships for Crown Athletics and in return will receive a
major percentage of these proceeds toward their fees. Details
will be provided to interested families.
CAMPS & TOURNAMENTS: The Knights will participate in an
in-house summer camp experience this year. Both camps scheduled
for the week of June 23-27. MS will meet from 10am-1pm and HS
from 1:30-5:30pm. Camps are considered mandatory for team
members and further details will be discussed at our information
meetings. Early in August, the Knights host summer tournaments
at
The King’s Academy. The Knights play in and help host these
fundraising events. The Knights Volleyball Committee is
investigating the possibility of attending the
National Homeschool
Volleyball Tournament in Omaha, NE on November 6-8, 2008.
Necessary fees will need to be raised through sponsorships and
team fundraisers.
