WHO WE ARE
Who is Crown Athletics?
Crown Athletics is an applied for not-for-profit organization established
in 2005 for the benefit of home educated students who are interested
in participating in competitive sports programs.
Who manages Crown Athletics?
We have a nine-member
operating board that oversees the day-to-day operations of our
organization. Our board is made up of nine home school parents,
both men and women. All members are actively involved in the
home school community and their local churches. Each has demonstrated
leadership skills, a servant heart, and interest and experience
in various sports. Operating Board members serve specified term
lengths as established by Crown Athletics bylaws.
How is Crown Athletics organized?
Our organization is designed with layers of accountability providing
necessary checks and balances, with players accountable to coaches,
coaches accountable to committees, committees accountable to the
Athletic Coordinator, the Athletic Coordinator accountable to a
nine-member Operating Board, and the Operating Board accountable
to a ten-member Executive Board, and all ultimately accountable
to the home school families we serve.
What about financial policies and organizational
procedures? Our financial records, bylaws and procedures
are open to participating families in accordance with the open records
laws for 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organizations. We have
currently applied for 501(c) 3 status and will operate as such in
every aspect.
What is Crown’s relationship with The
King’s Academy? Crown Athletics operates as an
independent organization from The King’s Academy, a private academy
facilitating home educators in Woodstock and surrounding areas.
The academy has been supportive of Crown since our inception, and
we enjoy the organizational resources they provide including the
use of their facilities as our home base.
OUR VISION
What is your purpose?
Our purpose is to honor and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and we
seek to humbly serve members of His body in the home school community.
What do you view as your primary focus?
Our primary focus is upon strengthening student athletes spiritually,
mentally and physically, and we keep in mind that our programs exist
for their benefit.
Do you have a Bible verse that supports
your vision at Crown Athletics? Yes we do!
Crown Athletics name and purpose is a reflection of 2 Timothy 2:5
which says, “If anyone competes as an
athlete, he does not receive the victor’s crown unless
he competes according to the rules.” We desire
our young athletes to learn the importance of competition by the
rules, especially those that reflect the character of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ.
