CROSS COUNTRY
UPDATE
Cross Country has ended with the
exception of a middle school tournament on
Thursday. What a season it has been for the
Knights! After winning several top awards at
most of their meets this year, the Knights
capped the season off with a huge tournament
win this past Saturday at the ACCE State
Championship.
Notable individual wins included Joe
Brannen in FIRST PLACE for JV Boys, Christy
Apon in FIRST PLACE for Varsity Girls, and
leading the way to a #1 STATE CHAMP win,
Gabe Downey took EIGHTH PLACE, Taylor Horne
SEVENTH, and Austin Downey SECOND PLACE for
Varsity Boys! Along with the Varsity Boys
FIRST PLACE win, the JV Girls took SIXTH
PLACE, JV Boys SECOND PLACE, and Varsity
Girls THIRD PLACE out of 20 schools
represented in the league.
Continuing to set a great example for his
players, Coach Howard Brummel took FIRST
PLACE in the Coach and Parent race for the
Masters level!! Go MIGHTY KNIGHTS Go! We are
so proud of all our team members. Thank you
for making this the best Cross Country
season we’ve had yet. Look for new trophies
in the lobby soon!
Cross Country 2008
The third season of Knights Cross Country is proving to be one of the best yet!
The Knights came out strong on Saturday, September 13 at the ACCE meet at Mt. Zion Christian Academy. Fifteen teams and well over a hundred runners were represented, and Knights Varsity boys and JV boys took
FIRST PLACE! Austin Downey took first for Varsity, and brother Gabe Downey took first for JV with teammate Joe Brannen in second. Christy Apon took first for the Varsity girls.
On Saturday, September 20, at the ACCE meet at Shamrock Middle School in Decatur, the Knights JV boys’ team placed
FIRST out of sixteen teams with team members capturing
FIRST, SECOND & THIRD place! Six of our JV boys placed in the top 15 out of 75 runners. The JV girls also had two runners who placed in the top fifteen. The Varsity boys placed THIRD out of ten teams with three runners placing in the top ten out of 45. Varsity girls finished FIRST out of ten teams with three runners placing in the top twelve out of 28.
