IT’S TIME FOR CROSS COUNTRY AND SOCCER! Volleyball & Football SEASON IS right around the corner! COME OUT AND CHEER ON THE Knights!

2nd Place at CCA Nationals!

The Crown Knights Varsity Cheerleaders traveled to Concord, NC for the Christian Cheerleaders of America 2008 National Competition on March 7-8. Over 70 teams from as far away as Indiana, Louisiana, Texas, and California attended the event.

The Knights competed in the Medium Varsity Music Division and came in SECOND PLACE out of six teams. Considering our team competed in this division against larger squads with advanced stunt skill levels, this represents another amazing accomplishment for Crown Athletics!

We are proud of our Varsity Competition team! God continues to bless this program in a wonderful way, and we are blessed by these athletes and wonderful coaches.

Speaking of our coaches, they both won awards as well. Out of hundreds of coaches represented in the CCA, both Candace Lee and Carol Eubanks were named as two of the TOP TWENTY CHEER COACHES in America! We cannot say enough about these wonderful Christian women. We are sorry to say goodbye this year to Coach Carol Eubanks who has been with us since the beginning of our cheer program. We wish her the very best, and know she will always be with us in her heart and support for Crown Athletics. Thank you coaches!!!

It’s almost time for tryouts for the 2008-09 season! We hope you will join us for another great year. See details below.

Welcome to the 2008 Crown Knights Cheerleading Program. We have a lot of exciting plans for our third season, and we hope you will consider joining us!

ELIGIBILITY: The Crown Athletics cheerleading program is open to home school girls age 12-18. Students must be 12 years old by September 1 and going into grades 7 –12 when school begins in August. There are both JV and Varsity squads. The Junior Varsity squad is made up of girls going into 7th-9th grades. The Varsity squad is made up of girls in 10th-12th grades. Girls going into 9th grade have the ability to play up and be placed on a Varsity team if their skills and performance meet varsity level standards at tryouts.

LOCATION: Practices are held at The King’s Academy and the World of Cheer in Woodstock. Knights football home games are played at Kell High School in Marietta, and Knights basketball games take place in the gym at TKA. We participate in the Christian Cheerleaders of America summer camp and regional and national competitions.

PROGRAMS: Crown Athletics Cheerleading is divided into the following categories –

Competition Season (December-April) – for Varsity only

  • Girls trying out for competition must participate in the football program as well – it is one squad that operates both seasons

Football Season (August-November; Preseason April-May and July) – for JV and Varsity

  • JV team members can participate in football only or choose to continue on into basketball season (most JV girls participate in both)
  • Varsity girls must participate in competition following football season

Basketball Season (November-March) – for JV and Varsity

  • JV team members from football season who desire to do so can come out for basketball cheer season
  • Additional 7th-8th grade girls interested in basketball cheerleading will have opportunity to try out
  • NEW KNIGHTS VARSITY BASKETBALL SQUAD! We’re excited to announce plans for a high school basketball cheerleading squad this year!
  • Tryouts for basketball cheerleading will be early in the fall – details to be announced.

SCHEDULE: Below is a schedule of upcoming events for Varsity football/competition and JV football team members. All these events will take place at The King’s Academy, 471 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA 30188. (The Varsity Basketball cheer schedule will be released at a later date.) Please note that due to the unique nature of cheerleading and the fact that there is no “bench” to pull from, these dates are considered mandatory.

FEES:
The Knights Cheerleading program fees will be announced at the Information Meeting. Past year’s fees have been around $500, and we expect this year’s program to remain in that ballpark. The fee covers administrative overhead, secondary insurance, supplies, cheer notebook, three practice uniforms, game uniform, shoes, bag, warm up suit, and pom pom usage. Camp fees and tumbling classes are priced separately. (The fee for the new Varsity Basketball Cheer program has yet to be determined.)

FUNDRAISING: There will be several fundraising opportunities available to offset camp, competition and other costs. We have a creative committee that works hard to make our program as cost effective as possible!

TRYOUTS: All chants, cheers and other instruction needed for tryouts will be covered during the two-day Cheer Clinic in April. Tumbling requirements: Varsity girls should have a standing back handspring at minimum. JV girls need to show good progress toward a round off at minimum. All girls will be required to display a toe touch, hurdler, and pike. A panel of outside judges will be at tryouts and will score the girls using a numbered scale for each element including jumps, tumbling skills, mastery of an 8 count and cheer, spirit and projection. Each girl will also undergo a brief interview with members of the cheer committee. (The interview is for the purpose of becoming better acquainted and is designed to be a relaxed and enjoyable experience.) Cuts will be determined based on needed positions on the squad and the level of experience of the team as a whole. An exact number cannot be set until these elements are determined at tryouts. Previously, our Varsity squad had between 9-12 members and our JV squad had 12-15.

COACHES: Our coaches are outstanding Christian women with a successful history of cheer experience. Feel free to contact them if you have any questions not covered in this flyer. We are excited to announce that we have a new JV assistant coach and a new Varsity Basketball coach coming on board as soon as they have completed the Crown interview and background check process. We’ll be providing their names and contact info soon.
